The American Bully breed developed as a natural extension of the American Pit Bull Terrier. The American Bully breed was subtly influenced by the infusion of several other breeds, which include the American Bulldog, English Bulldog, and Olde English Bulldogge. This breed has an impressive, athletic build, which is both muscular and defined, and displays strength and agility. Despite their powerful appearance, their demeanour is gentle and friendly and they make great family dogs. They also need regular exercise in the form of a daily walk and time outside in a secure area to run around and play – this dog needs at least 45 mins exercise daily. They have a short soft coat that requires brushing and hence are considered easy to groom.
A genetic predisposition means that an individual may have a tendency to develop certain diseases as a consequence of inherited defects in the genes. Although some disorders occur because of spontaneous mutation of genes, many genetic disorders are inherited. These conditions are seen quite often in canines, mostly but not exclusively, in purebreds.
