Beagles were originally bred to hunt rabbits. Considered to be good with other pets and children, the cheerful beagle thrives on affection. Active and curious, beagles need mental stimulation in order to be happy. Their friendly nature doesn't make them good guard dogs. Their short coat is remarkably easy to care for and requires minimal grooming.
