Bullmastiff

Bullmastiffs, owing to their size, are a whole lot of dog! Being gentle and affectionate, bullmastiffs do well with families with reasonably well-behaved children. However, they are wary and sometimes intolerant of strangers. They also may be less tolerant of a family's existing pets, therefore if you're thinking of adding a bullmastiff to your existing pack, you may want to reconsider your decision. Supervision is imperative when the bullmastiff is around children as it could inadvertently knock a child over. Socialization and training are crucial to living successfully with this breed. The short coat makes his grooming needs minimal and he sheds little. The bullmastiff also tends to drool and slobber.

Genetic Predisposition

A genetic predisposition means that an individual may have a tendency to develop certain diseases as a consequence of inherited defects in the genes. Although some disorders occur because of spontaneous mutation of genes, many genetic disorders are inherited. These conditions are seen quite often in canines, mostly but not exclusively,in purebreds. Having said that, this breed has an increased risk for the following conditions which may or may not manifest

  • Avg. Weight Male

    50 - 60 kg
  • Avg. Weight Female

    45 - 55 kg
  • Average Lifespan
