It is said that the Cavalier King Charles spaniel was bred to warm laps in drafty castles or on chilly carriage rides. Even today, this affectionate and playful dog makes a great lap dog. Great with children, their desire to interact with their guardians makes them ideal household companions. This breed is extremely adaptable and can do equally well with active owners and homebodies—as they mirror their owner's lifestyle. Regular grooming is key to keeping the Cavalier's coat lustrous. This breed sheds very little.
